The logistics and supply chain business will be looking to fill 1.4 million jobs between now and 2018, according to a new MHI (Mitsubishi heavy industries) Annual Industry report, developed in collaboration with Deloitte.

Nowadays, the logistics and supply chain industry is increasingly searching for unique talent.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs in logistics are estimated to grow by 26 percent between 2010 and 2020.

By 2020, 70 % of the world’s companies will use advances such as predictive analytics and wearable technology in their supply chains, stated Deloitte. This shift will have a deep impact on the roles and skill sets required in the future. Companies will require candidates with a complete understanding of the business to effectively assimilate emerging technologies and add value to their supply chain.

Moreover, artificial intelligence is becoming more prominent than ever, Robots are forecast to replace 80% of the jobs that humans are doing now.  For example Apple announced that they were investing 10.5 billion dollars in supply chain robots and automation equipment.

Disruptive technologies are transforming the way organisations run their supply chain. Therefore, Supply chain leaders must work and use complex networks and global capabilities, with a strategic view.

Consequently, Business Administration and Management are the most needed positions in the Supply chain management field.

Statistics have shown that SCM specialist positions will continue to increase given the fact that globalisation is accelerating, convincing companies to go further abroad and explore new markets.

Having practical experience in supply chain, logistics and procurement, as well as solid experience across all functions, executive recruiters are able to identify, assess and target best-in-class capability and potential.
