El Grupo Morgan Philips adquiere las operaciones de Hudson en Europa
Today, Africa is a continent in full bloom, and questions regarding the attractiveness of its cities are being asked more and more often.
Indeed, with a dozen countries (Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Ghana, etc.), showing a sustained and steady growth for several years now, feeding, housing, educating, providing health care or even entertaining their populations is becoming a real issue.
Thus, numerous researchers and consultants are regularly ranking the attractiveness of African cities, as a new yardstick of the best places to live in Africa.
Based on 6 recent rankings, here are the 10 cities which seem to be leading the field:
In addition to this list, it seems only fair to also mention Port Louis (Mauritius), Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Marrakesh (Morocco), Libreville (Gabon), Lagos (Nigeria) and even Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) as attractive major African cities.
But what exactly is the basis of an attractive city in Africa? The famous SHE is still the key – security, healthcare and education will, of course, always be paramount.
However, to these three fundamentals must also be added leisure, access to consumer goods, convenient transport facilities (international airport or not?), etc. A Broadway show will be much the same if it is staged in Johannesburg. And a Keziah Jones concert? See it in Nigeria or Paris. Urbanites have essentially the same expectations and demands wherever they happen to be located on the globe.
So what if African cities eventually ended up becoming as attractive and convenient as the world’s great capitals?
